According to Vedic astrology stars & planets are responsible for programming our subconscious mind. The stars and planets in their respective orbits act as a cosmic clock for timing in your life & subconscious mind.

According to Hindu astrology, the stars are termed as nakshatra. The term nakshatra is originated from the Sanskrit language Naks mean (Sky) and shetra means (Region) there is 27 nakshatras in the ecliptic. Any planet place in a particular nakshatra takes the effects of its Lord. Nakshatra lord has great importance in astrology these nakshatras belongs to 3 main groups

Deva (Divine)

Manav (Human)

Rakshasa

They have different ruling deities owned by different planet & have diversion qualities. These star constellation (nakshatra) radiates specialized energy and make their impact in the negative or positive field. Nakshatra help in prediction in one’s life. Nakshatra plays a vital role in defining the body part and which disease will individual will have if that part is inflicted. Nakshatra just like a Rashi which also break zodiac into equally spaced segments. Nakshatra position of the moon is an important use of nakshatra.

Each nakshatra has their symbol meaning their planetary rules and various attributes

The complete reason for vedic teaching is to bring to a man’s notice that he is the essential one in the universe. If noticed, we all share the same kind of identity, similar eternal and comic consciousness.that is,” the Atma” the self of all beings which is the undefined field of all the laws of nature to us. As we observe we notice that each person’s way of expression and transpersonal consciousness has its own unique and personal way.

There are six vedangas or limbs of the veda which not only give us a practical approach to the fact that we are one with the universe, but also explain why a person possesses qualities which are more inclined towards a unified field while other person is more inclined towards other qualities of a unified field.these personal differences in each person occur due to the enlivement of certain parts of the Kalapurusha which is the personified time, also known as the Zodiac sign of the individual by the placement of the Sun,Planets,Moon,and the adjacent, at the time of birth of each individual. The moon is also known as Chandra and the sun is also known as Surya in the sanskeith language.

The Kalapurusha, as mentioned above is divided into 27 parts,which are individually known as the Nakshatra’s, each of which comprises of 13 degrees and 20 minutes of the arc in the Kalapurusha or Zodiac.

This division of the k leaded towards further division which is mostly known as the rashi’s or the Zodiac signs, which are a reference to the movement of the moon, the Chandra. The word Nakshatra comes from the meaning ‘indestructable one’also the reglar translation of nakshatra is a ‘star’which refers to the indestructible movement of the star. Nakshatra are nothing but the ‘Lunar Mansions’ when translated in English. These 27 Nakshatras serve a variety of functions in the vedic astrology.

N are nothing but fixed bodies in the Zodiac around which the planetary system revolves with them being placed in the background. In the rasi and the nakshatra, the former is always overloaded by the Surya while the latter is overloaded by the Chandra which indictes that the Rasi shows us which would be the right environment to be placed in the right time of our lives and also how to get out of troublesome situations whereas, on the other hand the Nakshatra helps us in understanding the different mindset we should be having during various times to deal with the situations. The study of Nakshatras is important sothat in the regular events of our lives we take the right decisions and have a valid view point and reaction to them.therefore, it is always advisable to have knowledge regardingones Nakshatra.

There are two types of N schemes, the first one consists of 27 Nakshatras while the second one consists of 28 Nakshatras as it is inclusive of the Abhijit Nakshatra which is a intercalary Nakshatra .both the schemes have their individual significance and are useful in their own way.

The scheme involving 27 Nakshatra is generally used to analyse our day to day activities which is done by analyzing the birth chart, analyzing the dasas , usage of the Navatara ,etc: whereas, the 28 N scheme is generally used to determine the chakras like srvatobhadra chakra, the sannadi chakra , etc;.

The Nakshatra are divided into 4 padas also known as quarters each. Each pada measures upto 3 days and 20 minutes which means that each N is of the duration of 13 days and 20 minutes. When totaled ,there are 108 padas or quarters across the Zodiac and each map upto 1 Navamsa. Since the duration of each sign is 30 degrees, it is not possible to map it exactly the same on the rashi’s. but also it is interesting to see that the 9 N’s can be mapped to the 4 rashi’s. because of which it can be said that the 12 ZODIAC signs and the 27 N’s are divided into 3 parts each measuring upto 120 degrees.

In Hindu mythology, N are considered to be the 27 wives of the moon and also they are the daughters of Daksha Prajipat, whom Lord Bhrama had given the duty to help the World. In Hindus, the calendar is based on the moon’s sign’s and also important festivals like holi and diwali are celebrated based on the moon’s nakshatra.

The ZODIAC is divided into 360 degrees and since there are 27 nakshatras in total so we divide 360 degrees into equal divisions.

For example: 360/27= 13.20 which indicates 13 degrees and 20 mins

MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS TO FIND A NAKSHATRA:

Also, as we know that nakshatra is also divided into 4 parts,that is,

N = 4P (ii)

As we know that 30 D from a Rasi which means 30 D =9P wide

Thus, R = 9P (iii)

So , D = 3/10P (iv)

Now we consider the longitude of the planet to be brokendown into ‘R’ and ‘D’

That is, if the horoscope of a person the sun is say 66 Degrees

Then the sun has transverse 2 rasis and 6 degrees in the ZODIACodiac.

For getting the total number of Nakshatras and padas we will add (iii) and(iv)

Thus N = (9 R +3/10 D)/4 BEACUASSE N = 4P

TO THIS WE WILL ADD 1 IF WE DON’T CONSIDERTHE FRACTION (THAT MEANS THESTAR HAS ALREADY CROSSED N NAKSHATRAS AND HAS TRANSVERSED THE FRACTION IN THE NEXT NAKSHATRA)

So our final formula is

N = [{9*(RASI TRANVERSED) +3/10*(DEGREES )}/4] +1
